Here are ways to do that – physical, emotional, and mental resets that actually work.

5 Ways to Reset Between Work and Home

➡️ 1. Use your transition time Drive home? Dog walk? Walk from the office to the kitchen? Use it to unwind, not relive the day. Music, silence, deep breaths – doesn’t matter what, as long as it helps you ‘come down’.

➡️ 2. Change your state before you change roles Movement resets the nervous system. Walk, stretch, cold shower – even 2 minutes is enough to shift from “operator” mode to “dad/husband/partner” mode.

➡️ 3. Drop the phone First 30-60 minutes at home: no scrolling, no half-attention. Look them in the eye. Ask about their day. Actually be there.

➡️ 4. Name what you’re feeling “I’m wound up from that meeting” or “I’m frustrated about that email.” Naming the emotion reduces its grip – and gives you a chance to respond, not react.

➡️ 5. Visualise how you want to show up Quick mental check-in. Am I calm? Playful? Patient? Choose the energy you want to bring through the door – don’t leave it to chance.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s presence. It takes practice.
