Let’s be honest – stress is part of leadership. You’ll never remove it entirely. But you can manage it, so it doesn’t manage you.
When stress builds up, it chips away at your focus, your patience, your performance. It impacts your relationships, your health and your ability to lead with clarity.
And here’s the truth – most people ignore the signs until it’s too late.
In my work with leaders, stress is often the thing they confess is “getting to them.” But they haven’t learned how to handle it – so it handles them.
Here’s a simple mindset shift: managing stress isn’t about sound baths and candles. It’s about protecting your energy and building resilience.
3 simple strategies that work:
✅ Move your body. When you’re stressed, you’re wired. Movement – even a 10-minute walk – helps clear stress hormones and reset your system. I use this daily.
✅ Focus on one thing at a time. Multitasking makes stress worse. Set blocks of time for your key priorities. You’ll get more done – and feel calmer doing it. Regular meditation practice can help massively.
✅ Breath deeper. Sounds too simple? It works. Deep, slow breathing activates your parasympathetic nervous system – the part of your body that calms you down. 2 minutes of deep breathing can change your state fast.
Keep a close eye on those lifestyle habits that may be contributing to your stress levels too.
Leadership is demanding. Stress will always knock on the door. But when you build simple, consistent ways to manage it – you stay in control.
Remember: High performers manage stress – they don’t ignore it.
